Durable context for AI-assisted work

KOS organizes your projects, knowledge, decisions, and workflows into durable context you can use with supported AI tools. You keep the files. Each tool you use reads from the same maintained source.

What KOS is, and what it isn't

KOS is
  • A structured set of Markdown files for projects, knowledge, decisions, and handoffs
  • Built on KOS Core, a shared foundation that editions and extensions rely on
  • Context you can bring to supported AI tools
  • Compatible with Obsidian as an interface for reading and editing
KOS isn't
  • An operating system for your computer
  • A chatbot or an AI model
  • A prompt library or a folder template on its own
  • An official Obsidian product or partnership

What KOS keeps

Projects

A brief, scope, and current state for each piece of work, so a new session starts from what is true now.

Maintained knowledge

Reference material you curate and keep current, separate from one-off chat output.

Decisions

What was decided, why, and what it replaced. Decisions stay findable after the conversation ends.

Memory and handoffs

Short records of where work stopped and what comes next, written for the next person or session.

Workflows

Repeatable procedures your AI tools can follow against the same files.

Review

Changes an AI proposes are reviewed by you before they become maintained context.

One foundation, several products

KOS Core is the shared technical foundation and compatibility contract. It is not an edition and is not sold separately.

The Starter Kit is the open-source way to start with KOS Community Edition. KOS Pro is the professional commercial edition. Power-Ups are independently versioned extensions with their own compatibility and rights.
